Ken Harper
I started my professional career as a designer at Sun Publications in Chicago. I went on to join the features design staff at the Arizona Daily Star in Tucson, where I began my transition to new media design. I decided on a digital vagabond lifestyle, traveling around the country by motorcycle, designing on a freelance basis through his own company, IronCladImages.com. I have worked as a multimedia designer and producer for MSNBC.com, New York Life, Bausch & Lomb and various non-profit organizations including the United Nations, the Bahá‚í Faith, The Electronic Intifada and Aidchild.
I served as an interactive producer and designer at The Rocky Mountain News in Denver, Colorado, before becoming an Assistant Professor of Multimedia, Photography and Design at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.
My specific area of interest is in media development. I'm currently working on Together Liberia, a 5 university project to train the professional and student media in Liberia. The purpose of the project is to empower local communicators to share their own stories and develop institutional relationships with the Liberian media.
I currently live in Cazenovia, New York with my wife Dara and our 2 children, Rio and Amelie.
