Melissa Poore

Courier Journal

Melissa Gagliardi Poore is like many typical journalists these days - momentarily laid off. But she’s not letting that keep her from her love of writing. Only now, instead of covering city council meetings and breaking news, she gets to write about whatever she wants, adding opinions, adjectives and hyperbole anytime she wants. It also means she gets to focus on her true love, being a Mommy to her 3-year-old son Woodson James. Before joining the ranks of the unemployed, she was a reporter for The Courier-Journal, where she worked full time for five years after a nice seven year run as a freelancer and regular columnist. Other gigs include one year at The Leaf-Chronicle in Clarksville, Tenn., and a short stint at the Daily Item in Sunbury, Pa. But Louisville is where she’s from and always considered home. She is happy to be back at the Mountain Workshops for the fourth time, sharing her love for the craft of writing.
