Tom Eblen
Tom Eblen is a columnist for the Lexington Herald-Leader. He also shoots all of the pictures for his columns, as well as other photo assignments for the newspaper and its website, www.kentucky.com.
From 1998 to 2008, Eblen was the Herald-Leader’s managing editor. Before moving back to his hometown in 1998, he worked for 20 years as a reporter and editor at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and The Associated Press.
Eblen is a former board member of Associated Press Managing Editors and taught journalism ethics at the University of Kentucky for several years. He has been a writing coach at The Mountain Workshops a dozen times since the early 1990s.
Eblen, 52, is a graduate of Western Kentucky University. He and his wife, Becky, have two grown daughters, Mollie and Shannon.
