Grew up in Pulaski County, graduated WKU in 1983. I was managing editor of the Tri-City News, a weekly in Harlan County, in 1983; a general assignment reporter and weekend editor for The (Somerset) Commonwealth-Journal fromlate 1983 to August 1985; and have been with the Lexington Herald-Leader since August 1985 in a variety of jobs, including regional reporter, projects reporter and state-capitol bureau chief.
